Vision and Mission

Our Vision:
The Australian public coming together to give Australian children and young people the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our Mission:
To raise funds for and promote the work of charities that work with Australia’s disadvantaged children and young people.

Objectives:
The primary objective of Children's Promise is the creation of a reliable, regular source of untied funds for charities working with and for children and young people.

Children's Promise wishes to assist organisations that have not established fundraising initiatives focused on raising money from the general public. We acknowledge that this is a very resource intensive activity and many civil society organisations are unable to build their database of regular individual supporters or run large, visible public appeals due to resource constrains. This leads to over- reliance on a singular source of funding such as the government, trusts and foundations, businesses or individual benefactors.

In theory, at least 60% of the total income should be untied funding such as donations from the general public. Children's Promise aims to raise funds nationally through a public appeal so the funds can be shared between those charities to strengthen their work and allow them to focus on their core purpose. This will achieve "economies of scale" in fundraising expenditure.
